Sell or Trade Your Used Dive Equipment
Turn Your Dive Gear Into Money!

Turn Your Dive Gear into Money!  Our used equipment purchase program is designed to help you dispose of dive equipment that you no longer need, or to trade you existing equipment in on newer models.  It works very simply.  You send us your scuba diving equipment, we evaluate it according to our marketing needs, and make you a cash offer!  We pay you with a check or, if you choose, we apply the price to your Dive Sports account for future use.  We even offer a little bonus when you apply it to your account!  There is currently a surplus of used diving equipment on the market.  In the past several years, many people have entered the sport of scuba diving only to find it too time consuming, too expensive, or not compatible with their leisure needs.  This has brought lots of used equipment into the market.  As a result, we are limited as to what we are able to resale.  We hope the guidelines provided here give you a clear indication of what we can purchase and what we can't use.

How Our Purchase Program Works.  Dive Sports purchases used scuba equipment for resale in the retail market.  As a result, our purchase offer to you will be a WHOLESALE offer.  You should carefully review our website to determine what we are interested in purchasing.  After evaluating your equipment, clean it and package it carefully for shipping.  Download the Adobe PDF file at the bottom of this page and complete it.  Please document EVERY item you are enclosing in your shipping container.  Ship it to Dive Sports via any method of your choice.  When we receive it, we will evaluate our current inventory and make you an offer for the entire lot based on current market conditions.  If that is suitable to you, we will send you a check immediately!  If the merchandise you send us meets our guidelines, but we are unable to arrive at a purchase price, Dive Sports will return it to you via UPS Ground Shipping.  We will even pay the return freight!

What We Need and Don't Need.  We know our local and online market well.  We know what we can sell and what would just sit around and gather dust.  We have assembled some guidelines to help  you determine what you should and what you should not ship us.  Please follow these guidelines carefully.  If we receive items that are on the DO NOT SEND list, we will not make you an offer on the merchandise and will not return it to you Freight Paid.

We generally don't have a market for the old double hose regulators.  However, if you have one in exceptionally good condition, we might consider a purchase just to use in our store as an advertising prop.  Give us a call if you have such an item.

When We Receive Your Equipment.  When we receive your scuba equipment, we will compare the items in the carton with the Selling Form Inventory sheet.  If you do not enclose a Selling Form Inventory sheet, we will not make you an offer and will not return the merchandise freight paid.  We will contact you to determine how you want the gear disposed.  If all items are correct and accounted for, we will thoroughly inspect the equipment for proper function, visual appearance, and general condition.  We will determine how much we are willing to pay you for your merchandise.  We will notify you of our offer via telephone, email, or postal letter.  If you do not respond to us within 10 days, we will assume that you don't like our offer and the merchandise will be returned to you.  If the shipment contains items clearly outlined on the Do Not Send list, we will dispose of the items.  We will not pay the return freight for items that are on our Do Not Send list.

How You Get Your Money.  If you accept our purchase offer, we give you a choice of two methods of payment.  We will send you a Certified Check within  days or you may choose to have your Dive Sports account credited for the amount.  It can then be used for future purchases at Dive Sports.  If you elect to have the amount credited to your Dive Sports account, we will give you a bonus of 10% of the offered value.  Funds applied to a Dive Sports account MUST be used for purchases from Dive Sports.  Once credited to your account, we cannot later send you a check for unused balances.

Things You Should Realize About Selling Used Dive Gear to Dive Sports.  Purchasing used dive equipment is a business for us.  It isn't personal and we don't want you to be insulted by any offer we make you.  We might have too many of a particular item in stock and that will reduce our offer to you.  If you think our offer is too low, explain your reasoning to us.  Who knows, we may just agree with you and increase our offer!  In any event, if you don't like our offer, you can simply ask that we return the merchandise to you.  There are other issues that affect the price we offer you.  Please review the following list before you send your scuba gear.
  • We sell scuba gear for a living.  To make that work, we must buy low and sell high.  Not any different from what you do for a living.  Our offer to you will be based upon our knowledge of the product, what we think we will spend to repair, service, and promote the item, and what we honestly think we can get in the market place.
  • We are authorized dealers for many brands of scuba equipment.  We purchase at wholesale and sell for a profit.  Please don't expect us to help you "get your money" out of your equipment.  You may have simply paid too much for the item.  In fact, if you didn't buy it from us, you probably did pay too much!
  • The market is currently flooded with used scuba equipment.  This will affect the final price we offer you for your scuba gear.  However, selling it to us today is better than holding on to it for another year or so.  As it get older, it becomes less valuable.
  • A good portion of the used equipment we purchase sits on our shelves for a year or more.  We can't afford this, so please don't be insulted by our offer.  We really do try to use our best knowledge to make you an offer that is fair to both of us.
  • We will not pay you the "fair retail market value" for you merchandise.  We will offer you a fair WHOLESALE value for your equipment.
  • When we say we need equipment not older than 6 years, we mean that literally.  If you bought your gear in the 1980's, your 6 years have long passed.
  • If you want to get the full "fair retail used value" of your equipment, try advertising it in your local newspaper, at your local scuba club, or on auction sites like EBay.  Our bulk sale program is a good way to dispose of all of your equipment really, but you should remember that the price we offer you will be our best estimate of the wholesale value of your equipment.  When we resale it in our store or on the internet, we must make a reasonable profit.
  • You will get more for your items if any manuals are included.  This is especially true of dive computers.  Without a manual, we have a very difficult time selling the computer.  If you don't have a manual, try downloading one from the companies web site.  Print it and send it with your equipment.
Packaging Requirements.  You should package your scuba equipment in a manner that prevents damage during shipping.  Use a proper shipping box and seal it properly.  The last item you should put in the box before sealing the carton is the Used Equipment Inventory Form, properly completed.  If we don't see that sheet, we will close the box and wait to hear from you as to how we should handle the merchandise.  We suggest that you ship to us via UPS Ground.  Things do get damaged and lost in shipping.  It's rare, but it does happen.  You might consider purchasing the additional insurance for your items.  When we open the carton, if the contents don't agree with the sheet, we will immediately contact you.  Click the link below to download a Used Equipment Inventory Form.
